TRAVEL DOCUMENTS AND REQUIREMENTS

- Passport valid six months after return date required for all nationalities
to enter Tunisia.

- Visitors from the United States, Canada and Europe entering Tunisia do not
need visa.

- For some nationalities a visa may be required.
The visa procedures are simple and not restrictive.
The University of Tunis El Manar in collaboration with the local authorities will
provide assistance to ICTAC 2006 participants to obtain the visa for entry to Tunisia.

LOCAL TRANSPORTATION

- Yellow Taxis: They are cheap, available and equipped with meters.
They operate within Tunis City and its suburbs including Gammarth region.

- Public Transportation:
Information on public transportation in Tunis are available in French and Arabic

- The T.G.M.: to visit the North Suburbs of Tunis, there
is a train called TGM (Tunis - Goulette - Marsa) linking Tunis to Marsa in 35
minutes, via la Goulette, Salambo, Carthage and Sidi Bou Saïd.

- Car Rental: All major international rental companies are
represented in Tunisia.
Vehicles can be booked locally or pre-booked.
Vehicles drive on the right, roads are generally good.

MONEY
-
- Currency: The national currency in Tunisia is the Tunisian Dinar (TND),
divided in 1000 millimes. It is available in banknotes and coins.
The Banque Centrale issues the rates on a daily basis.
The exchange rate is approximately :
1 EUR = 1.70 TND;
1 USD = 1.34 TND;
1 GBP = 2.49 TND.
- Import or export of local currency is strictly forbidden.
You should keep with you the different receipts after changing money so
that you can give back at the airport the remaining amount of Dinars when
you are leaving the country and get back 30% of foreign currency.

- Credit cards are accepted for payment and for withdraw from ATMs
available everywhere, especially in large cities, hotels airports and malls.

- Foreign Currencies are convertible into Dinar at Banks, Exchange
Offices in Airports or Hotels.
