A number of additional facets shall characterise UNU/IIST. Some of these are briefly described below.
UNU/IIST shall build up a fully comprehensive conventional software technology library consisting of reports from more than 200 university departments and research institutes worldwide, some 140 international technical and scientific journals and major reference books -- covering the fields of mathematics, theoretical computer science, programming methodology, software engineering and software technology management.
Through the UNU/IIST Software Technology Monitor members of the UNU/IIST Organic Network can request copies of reports and journal articles.
UNU/IIST shall build up a fully comprehensive LAN based computing service featuring primarily advanced work stations from a broad selection of leading manufacturers.
The data centre shall eventually feature leading software technology tools, and also be the basis for a free (public domain) software distribution activity.
