10 Macau

UNU/IIST is located in Macau and has, and is receiving substantial support from the Governor of Macau. For this UNU/IIST is very grateful. UNU/IIST wishes to become a "good citizen" of Macau. To that end, and in fulfilment of its general charter, UNU/IIST is engaging itself in a number of Macau related efforts:

  1. From the fall of 1993 UNU/IIST staff will conduct a full course: Selected Topics in Software Technology at the University of Macau.

  2. From the spring of 1993 UNU/IIST staff will conduct joint research with lecturers from the University of Macau.

  3. Already now UNU/IIST is engaged in a joint feasibility study with the Macau Foundation and the University of Macau concerning MaGICS. See section 9.2.

  4. UNU/IIST will offer own research seminars for Macau scientists and technologists, and UNU/IIST will work jointly with the Macau Computer Association in securing survey and tutorial seminars aimed at industry software professionals and university and college lecturers and students.

  5. Otherwise UNU/IIST will make itself available to Macau institutions for new joint activities as per its charter.

  6. Otherwise ongoing UNU/IIST activities in Macau will be open to relevant Macau groups.

  7. Eventually UNU/IIST would like to see its extensive library and some other facilities (advanced computing, lecture room, canteen -- if and when available) made accessible to relevant Macau students and professionals.
