The first UNU/IIST Board meeting was held Aug. 6, 1992. The board reviewed and recommended July 1992 - Dec. 1993 incl. budget, programmatic activity plan and the UNU/IIST Strategy &c. document.
Dr. José Soromenho-Ramos (representing Portugal) was elected chairman, and Dr. Kesav Nori (India) was elected vice-chairman.
