List of academic meetings and events

Academic meetings and events are the workshops, conferences and seminars that UNU/IIST organised or jointly organised with some other institutions.

Lisbon Colloquium
In 18-21 March 2002, UNU/IIST organised its 10th Anniversary Colloquium in Lisbon. There were 71 participants at the Colloquium, including 29 keynote participants from 15 countries.

The Colloquium had 28 presentations and 3 panel discussions. The presentations and discussions covered recent development of software technology. UNU/IIST staff gave technical presentations there and participated in the discussion. The Colloquium plans to publish its proceedings by end of 2002, and anticipated a good impact of this Colloquium on international research of software technology and also on further improvement of UNU/IIST research and training.

ICFEM Conference
UNU/IIST jointly with Shanghai University organised the 4th International Conference for Formal Engineering Methods during 21-25 October. He Jifeng is co-chair of the conference, and Chris George is co-chair of the Programme Committee. It is also regarded as an academic event for the UNU/IIST 10th anniversary celebration in the mainland of China.

CUE Initiative
UNU/IIST has been involved in organising a working group of researchers from China, United States and Europe with an aim to identify and develop research agenda for software technology, and also to strengthen linkages in software technology between UNU/IIST, developing countries and developed countries. CUE's home page is http://www.cue-initiative.org. The first CUE workshop, on Component Based Systems: Foundations and Design Methods, took place at UNU/IIST during 28-30 October in connection with the UNU/IIST 10th anniversary celebration in Macao. Some 60 participants from China, Europe, and America attended the workshop.

Seminars and In-house Training
UNU/IIST has organised 24 seminars and in-house training courses for its fellows and staff in 2002. The lecturers were visitors, fellows and staff of UNU/IIST. The seminars act as a forum for the UNU/IIST staff and fellows to present their work and to discuss topics of common interest in software technology. In-house training lectures are to provide more fundamental knowledge in computer science for the fellows.
