11 Linkage to the UN System and other International Organisations

UNU/IIST has built up, and continues to build up close contacts with all relevant parts of the UN System and with relevant International aid organisations and funding agencies.

A brief list is:

  1. ADB: Manila, The Philippines

  2. CEU: Commission of the EU15: Brussels, Beijing
Discussions have been held on possible support for the SaM2I3, PRaCoSy, MoTraS and other projects, as well as more general support. Contacts will be continued.

  3. UNDP: New York, Beijing, New Delhi, Teheran, Pyongyang

  4. UNEP: Nairobi
Both UNDP and UNEP have been presented with the large-scale GaDIMS project proposal. UNU/IIST have received valuable comments so far from UNDP and will follow-up with UNEP with a view towards revising the GaDIMS proposal for more seriouss discussion in 1994.

  5. UNESCO: Paris, Bangkok, Beijing, New Delhi
UNESCO is currently UNU/IIST's main `partner': UNESCO sponsored the UCiST workshop, UNESCO instigated the HEMIS project that UNU/IIST will agressively try obtain funding for during spring of 1994. UNESCO supports the MacSchubert project. And UNESCO is considering support for the MoTraS project. UNU/IIST is very pleased with its interfaces to UNESCO.

  6. UNIDO: Vienna, Beijing, New Delhi
UNIDO could easily develop into another fruitful agency with which UNU/IIST finds it pleasing to collaborate: The SaM2I3 (now renamed into the MI2CI) project proposal is being seriously studied by UNIDO, and so are proposals for less costly activities such as awareness workshops mentioned elsewhere (item 2, section 7.4).

  7. The World Bank, IBRD: Washington, D.C., Beijing, New Delhi,

  8. WHO: Geneva
UNU/IIST and WHO are moving a bit too slowly on the UNU/IIST WHeC2S proposal.

Currently UNU/IIST focuses on convincing most of the above agencies that UNU/IIST can significantly help them carry through their programmes through the UNU/IIST concept of R&D and delivery (training in and use) of Enterprise Models respectively Emulator Systems for specific public and private (industry and business group) application domains.
