II/1/5/1 INCoM: Information Network Centre of Macau
The project is to establish an Internet information center about Macau
and China. The collaboration agreement for the project was signed on 30
May 1997 by Macau Foundation, State Science and Technology Commission for
China (SSTCC) and UNU/IIST. The Centre is operated on hardware donated
by SSTCC. Macau Foundation adminitrates this center. UNU/IIST's role is
to organize and supervise the team for the development of the center. This
project started in November 1997 and its first phase was successfully completed
in September 1998. The center provides Internet users with information
about Macau and China. It comprises (1) Basic facts and figures about Macau,
its geography, climate, population, industry, economy, social aspects,
places of interest, etc. (2) Home page for Macau Foundation, containing
its Charter and activities and a database for its publications. (3) Higher
education in China for students from Macau, Hong Kong and Taiwan, including
electronic application forms for Macau Foundation scholarship. (4) Information
about China from China Brief, China Info and Window to Chinese Software
