  1. 10th Anniversary Colloquium of UNU/IIST, Lisbon, Portugal, 18-21 March 2002.

  2. UNU/IIST sponsored the 4th International Conference on Formal Engineering Methods (ICFEM2002) which was held in Shanghai on 21-25 October 2002. The sponsorship of this conference by UNU/IIST was regarded as one of UNU/IIST's 10th anniversary celebration activities.

  3. CUE Workshop, a new initiative involving computer scientists from China, USA and Europe to study "The Scientific Foundations of Informatics as an Engineering Discipline", held its first meeting at UNU/IIST from 28-30 October 2002. The theme is "Component Based Systems: Foundations and Design Methods".

  4. 10th Anniversary ceremony of UNU/IIST, 28 October 2002. A number of local VIPs were invited. Prof. Dines Bjorner was also present and talked about the history of UNU/IIST.
