11 Why Enter into a Joint Activity with UNU/IIST?
Below are some of the many reasons why you might consider some sort of
joint activity with UNU/IIST:
- UNU/IIST is one of the leading institutions in the world in the
fields of research into and applications of formal techniques of
software development, techniques which can significantly improve
confidence in the correctness and the suitability of the software
produced.
- UNU/IIST, through its staff, has extensive contacts with
computer science departments in universities throughout the
developed world and significant experience of teaching computer
science in these universities itself. These form an extremely
important foundation for helping computer science departments in
universities in developing countries to expand and improve their
curricula under our curriculum development activity.
- UNU/IIST has built up extensive scientific and technical
expertise in understanding how and where advanced software
technology can be applied to the support of large infrastructure
systems.
- UNU/IIST staff have long and acclaimed experience in
international, joint research and development projects; projects
that have actually led to dramatic new methods and new, versatile,
stable software products.
- On its advanced development projects, UNU/IIST does not simply
hand over a finished design. Rather, we develop this design with our
Fellows, at the same time training them to use the advanced
techniques themselves. The Fellows can thus pass on the knowledge
they have acquired when they return to their home institutions.
Above all, UNU/IIST's projects are primarily aimed at improving the
knowledge and capabilities of its partners, not of UNU/IIST itself.
