UNU-IIST is looking for a trainee assistant to the computer system administrator. The employment will be a one year fellowship contract. For details about the terms and benefits, please refer here. UNU-IIST has a local network of around 100 client machines running Linux, Unix, Windows and Macintosh. It also has its own Internet connection, firewall, web, ftp, mail and domain name servers. Applicants must be interested in system administration. Experience in it will be an advantage but is not essential. On-the-job training will be provided to the qualified candidate.
Required skills:
1) University graduate in Computer Science or equivalent;
2) Good command of English;
3) Interest in system administration;
4) Strong interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities:
1) Routine system administration and maintenance tasks.
2) Provide assistance to end users on computer problems.
3) Assisting in administration and extension of the system.
