CALL FOR PARTICIPATION

In order to promote city informatization in the Asia-Pacific Region, in particular in developing countries of this region and to exchange the latest progress in research and development of software techniques and software project management, the Asia-Pacific Regional Cooperation Office for City Informatization (RCOCI), East China Normal University (ECNU) and United Nations University, International Institute for Software Technology (UNU/IIST) decided to jointly organise a training school "Software Development and Management".

COURSES OFFERED

Two courses will be arranged in this training school: "Software Project Management" and "Software Development Process Using UML". Each course includes 30-hour lectures and 15-hour course work. "Software Project Management" teaches software project management techniques that are crucial to success of large software projects. It includes introduction to international standards on software quality assurance such as ISO9000 and CMM, software project plan, size and cost estimate, risk analysis and control, etc. "Software Development Process Using UML" aims to make participants understand and use the object oriented methods to analyse customer's requirements, design a moderate size system based on an object oriented specifications, select the basic techniques to implement the design. Course lecturers come from UNU/IIST.

ABOUT THE ORGANIZERS

The RCOCI is the secretariat office of the High-Level Forum on City Informatization in the Asia-Pacific Region co-sponsored by UNDP, UN/DESA, UNIDO, Shanghai Municipal Government, Ministry of Information Industry of China, Chinese Academy of Sciences and about 50 cities of 24 countries. ECNU is a university in Shanghai. It has 50-year rich experience in education and training and good teaching facilities. UNU/IIST is a UN organisation. It is located in Macau with a mission to help developing countries improve their capacity to produce computer software. To establish and develop for the Asia-Pacific Region a permanent training mechanism with distinguished features is the ultimate goal of this joint activity.
